Paul Schalda (formerly of Paul & The Tall Trees) returns with a powerful new version of his song “Joey”, out now via Skylark Soul Co.
Originally recorded with Grammy-winning producer Adrian Quesada for the 2018 album Look at My Soul, the track was reimagined and re-recorded in December 2024 at Niles City Sound in Fort Worth, Texas. The new version features a stellar lineup of acclaimed musicians, including Victor Axelrod, Rich Terrana, and Preet Patel of The Frightnrs.
Quesada shares: “Paul Schalda is not only a good friend but an incredible artist—someone who straddles the line between soul, folk, and everything in between. He has one of the most unique musical voices I’ve had the pleasure of working with. We had an amazing time recording with a heavy-duty wrecking crew of musicians.”
To celebrate the release, Josey Records presents a Skylark Soul Co. Showcase on Saturday, June 28 at the Kessler Theater, featuring performances by Paul Schalda, with Michael Lee & The Wartime Limousine, and DJ sets by Luke Sardello.
